Current distribution
The current distribution on the political spectrum is shown in the following graphic. The graph shows the political alignment on the left-right spectrum. People on the political left are mainly classified as egalitarian, i.e. they favour solidarity and community provision. People on the political right are mainly classified as elitist, i.e. they are very individualistic and favour the principle of meritocracy.

The data for this representation comes from our questionnaire survey. It is based on more than 1 000 data sets. As soon as we have at least 100 data sets available for a country, it can be selected via the selection field.
The following chart shows people's own assessment of their position on the political spectrum:
The data reflects the current status. Only data for which the email address has been confirmed is taken into account. In this way, we try to minimise one-sided influence by individual persons. The data record for each email address can be renewed after three months. Since a person's political views can change over time, we measure the political views of all participants in our survey at regular intervals.
